Through a selective buying and breeding programme Cim has over 20 breeding females, with the majority homebred originating from the foundation stock acquired in the 1990’s in particular Morag 6th and Morag 7th of Ormsary, Lady 6th of Callachally and Baravalla Mina 15th of Corriemuckloch. Cim ladies are deep bodied and the majority are red, yellow and white in colour. Hisland females number 12 are all black or dun in colour and all descendents of black bloodlines.
Hisland and Cim Fold’s are currently sharing 4 stock bulls, Lord Andershaw (red), Lord Angus of Hisland (black), Calum of Hisland and Logan who have produced an array of colours in this years crop of calves.
Lord Andershaw of Old Greenlaw. Lord Andershaw arrived in the winter of 2007. A tall yellow, lengthy bull with an exceptional nature.
Other bulls that have put their mark on the Fold over the years:
Mullieach 6th of Millerston. Mullie was sired by Lord Angus of Old Greenlaw acquired in 1995 by Russell. There are a nice selection of daughters left from him. He was a tall yellow bull, kind natured and bred consistently, threw white and a sweetness to his females.
Coinneach of Cim. Affectionately known as ‘George’, he arrived in the belly of a Glengorm heifer brought in 1994 by Russell Hamer. George is brindle, sired by Toisiche Mor of Torloisk, short in the left, kind in the eye and has left a beefy stamp and good nature to his progeny.
Rushmore Bracken. Very lucky to be offered Bracken by a local cattle dealer, and he arrived at Cim in the autumn of 1998. Tremendous sized bull, virile and a real presence and will put size and scope into your Fold, also threw white. More on Bracken in the AI section.
Logan Odah 2nd of Coverhead. Showy dun bull with upward horns, born in 2006 and half brother to Max sharing the same sire. Logan’s dam is a black cow, Princess Dubh 3rd of Killochries from Rigg bloodlines.
Ewan of Tordorrach. Ewan came to Cim in autumn of 2003, sired by Dalriada of Ballyheather. Ewan was a lengthy yellow bull, threw white and has given his daughters a lovely nature.
